It was a wonder she’d managed to not set foot in the safari zone yet. She’d been in Hoenn for months and had evaded it. Or really, maybe it wasn’t too surprising. Her proclivity for urban life and city streets was no small secret. She was always more at home among concrete and tall buildings than she was in…eugh, nature.[break][break]

But dutifully, she forged ahead—if only because her girafarig seemed to be heartily enjoying the grass under her hooves, and time away from any urban sprawl.

Nature was quick to remind her why she tended to avoid it—in the form of a cute little fletching.[break][break]

The little bird swooped down, for whatever reason she didn't know, and began fluttering around her head incessantly. Maybe she’d walked too close to its nest? Maybe she looked like she had treats? Whatever the cause, she didn’t care. Sidney squatted at it with a shriek, annoyed that her girafarig had wandered off to graze and was not doubling back to assist.[break][break]

“Some help…” she grumbled. Finally, she snatched one of the safari balls she’d been given and clunked the bird with it, in the hope that it would stay contained and leave her alone.

Sidney huffed, foot stamping as she pocketed the safari ball holding the little bird. Honestly…she didn’t come here to get assailed! Still grumbling to herself, she paused to smooth her hair back in place before stalking off to find her awol Pokémon.[break][break]

But something else had found Tipper first.[break][break]

She froze as she watched the girafarig bartering back a stubborn mienfoo with her ZEN HEADBUTT. And despite the fact that Tipper hadn’t come to her aid, Sid tossed a safari ball at the weasely creature once it stumbled under the psychic type’s impact.

A puttering cloud of smog eventually distracted Sid from the little battle as it wrapped up. The Pokémon that emitted the clouds wasn’t one she’d ever seen for herself before. “Would ya look at that…” She whistled for Tipper, “let’s get this one too.” The Pokémon complied, lashing out at the varoom with the blast of a PSYBEAM before it could rumble away.
